Wilson. Select French walnut stock with cheek pad, drop points, fine 4-point
checkering, leather covered pad. Rebates on top and bottom of frame with
exceptional wood to metal fits. Folding leaf rear sights, adjustable trigger.
Used by Mr. R. L. Wilson on
safari hunts in Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Ethiopia, and the Central African
Republic where big game was taken
including several cape buffalo, two elephant, leopards, and lions.
Relief chiseled sidelocks
with Diana, goddess of the hunt along side fallen stag, right sidelock depicts
Mr. R. L. Wilson after a successful lion hunt. Elephant hunting scene on bottom
of frame surrounded by a fine gold wire inlay boarder, profuse scroll work on all
surfaces of the receiver and wedges of scroll engraving on barrels. Gold inlay
stars and gold inlay bald eagle on top of breech, large gold inlay cape buffalo
on trigger guard.
Engraved by six master
engravers; Alvin A. White, who scroll engraved the trigger guard, Denise Thirton
who engraved the Nimshke-style scroll on the forend mounts and pistol grip cap,
K. C. Hunt engraved and relief chiseled the lock plates, Hans Obiltschnig engraved
a low relief rhinoceros on the gold shield, the barrels were engraved in two
styles of scroll by Rene Delcour, and Phil Grifnee.
This collaboration of master engravers resulted in the most diverse
styles of English, Germanic, Belgian, and American engraving and engraving
styles found on any gun.
